Truck Camper in 2003

I guess I'm not exactly understanding the question?? Are you implying that slide-in campers won't go in the back of your 3rd gen DRW?
There is no model year or time line that makes it so you can't put a camper in a Dodge Ram dually.

I have an alu deck that hauls quads/sleds on top, I had to make the legs longer since the box is taller than older trucks. Had friends that bought the new style chev in 88 and there campers wont fit from older trucks back then. So was asking since this box is taller and some what curved thats all.

You would have to look at the particular camper.
A buddy has an older camper in a newer ford, and just had to have a couple sheets of thick plywood on the floor.

Well, that will definitely be more camper specific than truck specific fit problem.
I have a 11.5' Coachman that fits in my 2nd and 3rd gen dually fine and it was made in '94.
I have seen many 90's campers that fit in 3rd gens just fine.
The F150 does take the cake for rediculously tall box sides, though!

I was looking at campers from the late 70's, for the amout its going to be used didnt want to spend alot. But once I get one, might uses it lots. So maybe should look for a newer model. Thanks guys for any imput, I really have never gone RV, wanting to use to travel across the country instead of hotel rooms. Just have to pay for diesel, have my own gen set, so have power on tap.

I'd say you are wise to start out used. Just make sure the fridge is in good condition (expensive to replace) and there are no structural problems or water damage...
Everyone I know who got into RV's learned from their first one what floor plan, size, or type they really wanted. New ones depreciate hugely even if hardly used, so it makes sense to learn on something that you can get most if not all your money out of.
As far as what will fit, take your tape measure.
