I just bought an 06 2500 and pulled the brake box out of my 99 before I got rid of it. Is the plug in the same on the 99 and the 06 so I can use the same box/plug? Is the location of the plug under the dash in the same place as the 99?

 

well if your talking about brake control, then yes there is a set of wires labeled brake control under the dash if your truck came with tow package.

 

I think he's trying to take the same plug from the 99 and put it in the '06. I wouldn't try it as the OEMs seem to take great pleasure in changing the brake controller wiring whenever the urge hits them. Cut the controller loose and re-wire it according the color code on the new truck. If you don't know which wires are for what on the controller, you can probably find it online. Tekonsha (Prodigy) is good about keeping that up. Or use the '99 owner's manual to figure which is which.

 

Is it one of the newer style brake controllers like the Prodigy?? There is a plug under the dash that accepts the adapter plug from most brake boxs already. I would spend the money on a new brake box like the Prodigy and get the proper brake adapter plug to go with it. You'll spend about $150.00 maybe less. Well worth it to have a quality brake controller.

 

i have takin my brake controler out of my 05 and used it in my sisters 99 without a problem not sure about 06 but it worked for me

 

It's a Tekonsha Voyager which has worked well for me over the past 8 years. I'm sure there are others out there that are better, but I don't need to upgrade the box, I just need to put it in the new truck.

Dodges brake wiring has been the same from like 1994 to current I havent heard of any changes?
