Unhappy Trailer Brake ?

I was hauling a new trailer home the other night(42' gooseneck car hauler) and I lost my brakes. My controler strated acting funny. All the lights started flasing and then nothing. What happened? When I hooked up to my 22' trailer the reiciver plug wouldn't work either. Looked at the fuses but didn't see any blown. Did I miss something?

95 Ram,
It still sound like a fuse. But, it could be a wiring problem underneath the truck. Did all of your tail lights go out or just the ones on the trailer?

The lights on the trailer worked fine. It was the lights on my controler that started flashing, and then I didn't have trailer brakes. I didn't have a load on the trailer but that thing ways around 5,000 empty.

It sorta sounds like your controller went south. Did you try another controller? Borrow one from a buddy and see what happens.

Could also be the wiring itself. Probably is the controller though - - probably a Brakesmart!

Bob....

Sounds kind of like an internal problem with the controller. Did you verify it is recieving proper voltage?

What brand of controller is it? You might look in the directions...perhaps the flashing light on the controller is it's way of telling you that it detected a short or open condition?
