I don't think U Haul will rent you a car dolly if the Taurus is the tow vehicle(as Totallyrad said).......they wont allow any of thier trucks to pull my truck.....not even with their 26' model.......plus they would want a class IV or V hitch.

No kidding !!! I remember I towed a '78 TransAm for 80 miles with just a strap. Bought the car not running at a garage sale, wife driving an olds 88 towing me on the TA with a strap, on country roads for approx 80 miles. We were young and foolish (or worse) .

I would try the U-ship.com route. The amount of gas they will use to tow + dolly rental will be equivalent to the cost of somebody else doing it for them.

Like most said most companies want the vehicle pulling, the vehicle being pulled, this and that, there not stupid. As well neither is your insurance, if something happened you'd def. be SOL and possibly hurt pretty bad (not worth the risk)

I had to tow a sable back from maine and the guy wanted to know if my truck could pull it (obviously saying I could tow it if the wheels fell off, did not impress him) I then filled him in (he was a ford fan, figures) but finally got it. They are strickt. There even getting good with putting special bolts on the hub that moniters millage, in fact need to go make that fitting
