2003 ford taurus power steering line

Im workin on an 03' Ford Taurus 24V DOHC.
The pressurised power steering line that runs from the power steering pump to the rack&pinion is leakin... Only question is, how the heck do you get this thing off I cant even get my hand close to this line but i sure can see it! Its really starting to bother me!! Anyone done one of these before???

I haven't seen the situation, but I imagine it may require accessing the rack from below, and going as far as pulling the PS pump off the engine. I know when I was a mechanic I had to get to some of them from below. Fortunately I had a lift.
Wish I could offer more specific directions on this.

Chris

Don't know about the newer ones, but on the '91 you had to drop the engine and transaxle to get to the hose that was routed on the firewall. Plus they had crappy connectors that were known for failure.

Another Ford better idea.

Well heres the story, NOBODY has the part, oreilly, autozone, napa, carquest. Nobody. So I called one of the local Ford dealers. They told me they sold the last one they had the other night and the closest one was out in Oregon at a Ford dealer. At this point I really dont have the time to fix it, so my Mom (Its her car) told me not to worry about it, and she would just have me check the fluid every night.
Well today the hose completly let go on the side of the road while she was driving. AAA towed it to the local Ford dealer for her (keep in mind they told me they didnt have the part) She calls me saying that Ford was going to fix it, and they HAD the part in stock...

What the heck, I call for a part they dont have it in stock and its out on back order for 3 more weeks. Bring the broken down car in ad what do ya know, they have the part!!!

Man, I just love Fords.

Tell us what they charged your mom to do the repair. I bet it ain't pretty.

I'm beginning to think the removeable pickup cab concept was derived from the Taurus. They definately don't build stuff to work on. I had to get one aligned once and they spent about an hour grinding off and drilling out welds so they could adjust it. The whole engine compartment was covered with metal chips and grinder wheel dust.

Then the head gasket saga began, but that's another story. NEVER again!
