towing with 2011 laramie 2500

Waiting for my new 2011 Laramie 2500 to arrive and now wondering if I will have a problem with my 5th wheel due to increased bed height and it looks like the bed is higher in the back. Is anyone pulling a 5th wheel with the new 2500's. Wondering if I will need to lower the bed or put on a leveling kit or anything like that. I am pulling with a '98 2500 now but it looks like the new trucks are higher in the back.

I tow a 36ft 5th with my 06 2500 and there is no problem, the new trailers are higher than the old ones, I use firestone air bags set at 30 lbs and she doesnt sit down hardly at all, tows great, your new one should be great.

thanks but I am pulling a '94 model Alpenlite 24' 5th wheel. It is fairly level with my '98 Dodge but looking at the new 2011 models it looks like the beds are higher and slanted upward toward the back end. Maybe I am worrying for nothing lol. Be glad when my truck gets here so I can measure. Just thought someone that has a new 2011 pulling 5th wheel trailer might have had a problem with the angle of the bed when maneuvering in uneven terrain.

maybe a spring over axle kit will help level everything out. im towing a 95 jayco designer 30' with my 05, sits pretty nose high and im right on the border of not having enough bed clearance. most say 6" but heck, id take a foot if it runs level, new axel perches and u-bolts in the kit for around $50, and a couple brackets made up for the shocks and i should be all set. this will give me alomost 4 inches of lift in the rear of the trailer, which will give me more bed clearance, tail clearance, and make it run level. i plan on fabbing something to lower my steps the amount that the camper gets lifted.

check it out, ive heard many good stories.

ive also seen people that throw a couple pieces of 1" box steel stacked together betweel the shackels and the frame with no bracing! i would not suggest this lol!!!!

Thanks Mike. That sounds like what I will need to do. My truck should be here in about 2-3 weeks. I will measure before I transfer the hitch over from the old truck to the new one and make the changes you suggested before I try to tow with it. I dont like having the trailer nose high either. puts extra strain on the back axle of the trailer I think. So I will be trying to get clearance on a level truck bed and have a level trailer....if that is possible.
Thanks again.

be careful switching the old hitch to the new truck because it might not fit right with my 2008 i had to buy a new hitch because the old one i had required you to drill the frame and dodges frame warrenty said if you drill the frame it would void the warrenty the new hitches use clamps that go around the frame or use hole that are already in the frame from the factory

I just picked up my new 36 foot crusader yesterday. I had already measured my 2001 2500 and 2011 3500 side by side, the 2011 is 2 1/2 inches higher at the back. I had already tried the 2011 under the trailer while it was still in the shop and it looked as though the trailer was high at the front. Since then I decided to raise my hitch 2 inches because I couldn't see the hitch when I was hooking up so I expected it to be about 3 - 3 1/2 inches too high. Sitting at home with the weight on the truck and trailer empty it pretty much sits level, I am quite surprised. I notice that the springs on the rear of my 3500 SRW appear too be exactly the same as the ones on my 2500??? As for your trailer if it sits level with your 98 then there's a good chance it will be pretty close.
