Tire pressure when towing

Thanks for all the advice, but I left before I checked my email. however, it sounds like I did ok.

I ran 75 in the trailer tires, 80 in the rear on my truck, and 65 for the front tires. It towed great. With a 5th wheel that weighs over 10k dry, I still got 11.5 mpg. And I didn't slow down for the hills. It sounds like I had the correct pressure.

At all times you should run the max psi you can so that you wear evenly... The more weight the more air... If your anywhere near GVWR thats going to be 75-80... the increased air will reduce tire temp, rolling resistance, increase tire life and reduce the chance of a blowout.

I have always run my tires at max psi and never had any issues with sidewall blow outs or uneven tread wear. It might ride a little stiffer when you're not loaded but it really isn't that bad.

I run a full 80psi in my Toyo's all the time on stock wheels and don't have any uneven wear. It is too much hassle to mess around with the air pressure (for me) all the time. I don't think the ride is any worse and the tires should last to at least 40K. Plus I think I get better mileage when they are fully inflated. Scotty

i have never had the opportunity to run a comparitive analysis with max pressure versus variable pressures. in construction the truck is loaded one minute and empty the next. the thing i have noticed is a mileage increase for hard tires. my '03 had about 57,000 miles on them and looked like they were good for a bunch more. my 05's were in the tank at 40,000. same amount of truck service, same type of loads, towing, etc. always 80psi airpressure. both dullys.
