Tail High

I am beating up my tailgate and bed rails on my 08 2500 long bed because the tail end is high and contacts the undercarriage of my 5th wheel RV when crossing dip/mound. My 5th wheel hitch in the bed of the truck is as high as it will go.

Welcome to the website. I have re-posted this in the "Towing/Hauling Section" to give you more exposure on your question.

Can you lower the pinbox on your 5er to get more clearance? You also may want to post on rv.net forum and give some more details or even a picture if you have one with your 5er hooked up to your truck.

What year is your 5th wheel?

Late model pickups seem to have higher bedrails, that older 5th wheels aren't designed for.

On mine, I ended up having spring seats welded onto the top of the axle, to locate the axle below the springs. I had to raise my hitch a notch, and lower the pin box on the 5er a notch, but the result was a trailer that rides level and lots of clearance between the 5th wheel frame and the bed rails of the truck...

Anyway, I see this is your first post. Welcome. There are lots of friendly people here who can help you with almost any question you could come up with.

What year is your truck? You may want to lower the rear of the truck, remove the spring spacers.

I agree, you'll probably end up raising your 5ver, (flipping the axles) if you will. It's very common and if you look around on here you'll see many that have done it. Welcome to DTR.

I had to put a 3" lift on mine and then go to 16" wheels to get it level also a leveling kit on the front will drop the tail about 1" at empty load
