Straight pipe when towing

Just wondering so I can prepare myself. I recently straight piped my truck and was wondering how loud it became when pulling a load?

With no load the cab noise is not much differant than stock. The feiance didn't even notice till I jumped on it that something was differant.

I am worried with the 5er the exhaust noise will bounce off the trailer and into the cab and I will not be able to enjoy the sound because she will be complaining about how loud it is

All depends on what you find loud.

I don't notice at all when the windows are closed and the stereo isn't even that loud.

You may find that you will want a resonator, if you get any drone. I had to with the 5" system. REALLY bad at ~2000-2200 rpm range. And this was empty, too.

Resonator fixed it.

My '99 was straight piped and I towed all the time. Never bothered me even with the windows down. Going under an overpass was another matter though!!!!!

My brother has the Magnaflow. It sounds fine unloaded, but he says it's pretty loud when he's towing, even in OD.

If you find it to loud try throwing your silencer ring back in. I found it made quite a difference when pulling my trailer

As Rattlerattle said,,,,,,, it depends on what you consider loud,,
Mine has been straight-piped for years and the grandbaby has slept in her carseat with the QC wing-windows open since she took her first ride at the age of six months. She's three and a half now and watches her DVD movies back there now. NO PROBLEM,,,,
I did find out that the wife could only stand about 10 minutes of having the slider open when towing,,,,,,,,,,,, it's rather LOUD when pulling hard! Too much wind coming in through there anyway when towing the 5er,,,,,

Rattlinram, maybe you should have the slide out in the 'in' position when towing.

If your concerned about the straight pipe being too loud while towing then chances is it will be. My 4" on my previous truck was too loud for towing, I ended up putting three full flow mufflers on to tame it down while towing.

it will probably have a drone at 75 mph or 2200 rpm if it bothers ya kick it up a notch on the cruise and ya cant even hardly hear it

I found putting a turn down tip on the on the end of my 4" straight pipe helped a fair bit.
