Removing Gooseneck Unit

I have a gooseneck hitch installed in the truck I just purchased. I have no use for it and want to cover it. The ball is off, but the Chain (eyes? slots?) protrude above the beds surface. If I can get rid of these, I will find a way to fill the holes and Linex the bed.
Are these removable in some way without cutting them? I figured if there was a way to remove them without destroying them I would save the parts just in case, otherwise, I will cut them hopefully without destroying the bed.
Thanks.. gary

There are many different goose neck hitches each having a different safety chain attachment but it sounds like you are describing a B&W turn over ball hitch. If so then the safety chain attachments are spring loaded square U bolts that have a nut on each end and are bolted through the bed and hitch. Just take the 4 nuts and springs off and pull the u bolts out from the top.
