we had them on our FedEx trucks. They were great. These days you could even get a color one with an LCD monitor for not very much money ($100 if you wire it yourself).

you could also trigger it to go on when you go into reverse or just have it go on manually.

I've got one on my truck for backing into my trailer. I love it! My company sells a kit that comes with a small monitor and the camera is built into a license plate frame, I'm sure wil a little more wire it would work great on the back of a trailer. Probably be best if the plate was in the center though.

There is a wireless system out for trailers. I tried to find the website and could not. I will keep looking. Carriage agreed to prewire a new fiver for me for a camera. The wires would come out with the others at the kingpin.

Ha! Actually meant when I'm hitching up to it. I have it positioned in the tailgate handle so i can see the entire hitch when i'm backing up.

wonder if you could mount two camaras to one monitor? one to guide onto gooseneck and one at the end of the trailer?
if one is mounted in the center of the rear of trailer could you "see" both sides when you are backing?

Brilliant! Because of where I have to store my trailer and because I'm always hooking up alone, this would be great!

If there was a wireless one, I'd sure like to have one mounted on the back of my 5th wheel... I think I'd just put a rocker switch on the trailer to power it, and leave it on whenever I'm towing.

If someone comes up with a reasonable priced wireless camera, please post a link.

Thanks Herb. The color ones he has there also look pretty neat.

Interesting to see that both the B&W and color ones have a microphone in the camera... I suppose when you hear glass breaking and a crunching sound, you would know you've gone far enough.

This is the unit I've been looking at. It will allow you to run and extra camera on the rear of the trailer and just use one monitor with a selector switch between the two cameras.

I know a few RVer's that have this system and they love it.
