Rapid Hitch

I'm interested in a Rapid Hitch and would like to know people's experiences.

Some questions:

1. Is there excessive "slop" or "play" in the adjustable part of the hitch?

2. I'm wondering how you secure the adjustable parts of the hitch from theft? I think I saw some special locking pins that were available? How much are they and how well do they work?

P.S. I will only be using one size ball, so I believe I would only need one locking pin?

TIA

I have one on my 06'. The softer springs on my 06' vs. my old 96' made the Rapid Hitch necessary. No matter the load on my 96' a 6" drop was adequate. My 06' varies according to what's in the bed. When towing the Jeep the camping gear goes in the bed. No problem with slop in the Rapid Hitch. I hadn't even thought about it until your thread. I use a Hitch lock. No special locking mechanism for the adjustable part. Rapid Hitch is only on the truck when towing. When commuting to work I have a spare cheap receiver with 2" ball I'm not concerned about. I've seen others on the road that leaving the main piece connected to the truck. The adjustable part is in the cab until needed.

the place you got the rapid hitch should have the pins or access to the pins. we sell them in our store here. its from anderson manufacturing, same people that make the hitch. part#3434. they're about 50 bucks. it comes with two pins, one shortie for the receiver and a long one for the drop part.
if you're just going to use one ball they make a billet aluminum drop shank that holds just as much weight. it's just as cool as the rapid hitch but one piece.

I use a Rapid Hitch too. Minimal slop right now, but I assume the aluminum will wear with time.

I use the matching keyed alike locks to secure it from Trimax.

Lot of coin to waste on such a poser item....but it sure looks cool!
