Quick Question About Bumper Replacements
Quick Question About Bumper Replacements
All, I am getting ready to make my journey across the country in the next few days and plan to stop off in Texas to get my front end replacement and rear bumper replacement installed...the rear bumper has a 2" reciever welded onto it and they say that it's rated up to 10K. It's going to be a 10" drop bumper and the receiver piece is welded on the top just below the licence plate. They say that they are just as sturdy or MORE sturdy than the factory rated Class IV...what do you all think? I'm new to bumper replacements and just want to make sure that I won't be under rating my truck for what I do with it. (never bumper pull anything more than 10K)
Thanks!
Thanks!
What brand are you getting? If you are going with a Ranch Hand rear bumper and you are adding a 2'' receiver, it will actually drop the "rating" down to 5k. That is why i didn't go with a RH pipe bumper on the rear.
I do have a RH front end replacement though.
In order to keep and use my stock receiver (and since upgraded to Putnam XDR Class V) I went with a Frontier Rear diamondplate bumper. Not as protective as the pipe bumpers, but it still allowed the use of the factory receiver. http://www.frontier-gear.com/html/RearBumpers.html

The brand is T3...it's a place called T3 Truck Equipment...I spoke with the designer/manufacturer himself and he told me that his bumper receiver is guaranteed to 10K and he personally thinks that they can handle more than that.
