Well Gary, If you read what I posted, you would see that I don't disagree with rvers using them for rests. What I disagree with is rvers using rest stops for erstatz camping. So as I said before, if you're camping, go to the Campground. Spend the 12 -20 bucks. If you can't afford that...sell the RV . If it's a rest stop, use the rest stop, thats what it's for. P.S. I hate parking at rest stops, and only do it as absolute last resort. But it beats sleeping and driving.

It's a public area and there is nothing I can do about it, so I just put up with it. But nobody can make me change my opinion about it or the people who do it.

As for the Flying J's and all other truck stops, it's up to them what they want to do. RV's in J's have their own area, for overnight parking. Big asphalt lot with no shade and about 6 sq. ft. of grass. Yep, thats the life. And I really don't have any problem with RV's at the J. Never said I did. Just said I had a problem with the J and others of that ilk competing on a very unlevel playing field with legitimate campground operators.

To tell you the truth, I'd rather be sleeping in my house or my RV every night. Just not an option right now.

Will stop posting on this now, as anything else I say would only be even further repitition. Park wherever you want. Just don't ask me to like it.

I too make those long trips pulling the 5th, we joined the Moose Lodge. Most of them allow you to stay a night or two without any charges, most have meals available and adult beverages, some even have power hook-ups and will give you water if you need, my lodge does. The down side is they are not all close to the freeways.
