Question for Powerstroke Owners

Hey guys I've got a friend that is thinking about adding a performance to his Ford Super Duty. Here's what he's got 2000 F-350 crew cab, 2 wheel drive with the 7.3 powerstroke. As far as regears I don't know what are in it. He's going to be pulling a 28' enclosed trailer at about 10,000 lbs. I followed him home when we picked it up, of course trailer was empty may weight 4,000 lbs. But he couldn't keep up with me when I was pulling a 18' trailer maybe 8,000 lbs. The Ford only as 40,000 miles on it, he purchased it from our employers father, who was in his late 70's. The truck had been driven seldomly as you can tell by the miles. What type of box or chip is pretty decent? We used to have an Ford Excursion that had a Western Diesel 4 position flip chip on it. It was alright but nothing special. Would like to be able to point him out towards something that hopefully won't damage his trans as long as he drives sensibly with it. I thought about something like the Edge Evolution, but have no idea when it comes to Powerstrokes. Thanks In Advance.

My 2000 7.3 was bone stock and not real fast. I never turned it up but I ran a Superchips programmer on my 2004 6.0 and it was mean. I have buddy's who are now running the Superchip on their 7.3's and getting good results. They still can't keep up with my current Dodge but it did make a huge difference. I would suggest at least a pyrometer if he is towing with any power making device.

Big difference in the ol" 7.3 (my favorite PS) and the 600 series Cummins but as for bomb add ons I like the Edge Juice. We installed one on my buddies 99'
and he loves it 25,000 miles with it and no problems. Most of it set on 4 or 5
