Question on Jordan Ultima

Ok, I see how it works, and such But before I order one, can someone explaine how it knows when the brakes actaully come on, and not when the pedal is pushed? My pedal has some travel before the brakes start to engage, so will the controller start to add trailer brake before the truck brakes engage?

Yes, my 93 did exactly that. Because I wasn't keeping up with the rear drum adjustment, I could start out a long trip (1000 plus miles) with the brakes adjusted just fine, but by the time I had got to where I was going, I had as much as 3/4 inch play in the pedal, and the trailer brakes would come on before the truck. Felt awful. The trailer felt like it was holding me back.

I believe mine is much more than adjustment, because Im adjusted actually a lil on the snug side, and I swapped over for some huge wheel cylinders. Dont get me wrong, the truck will stop on a dime, but the pedal just drops a tad farther than normal, thats all. Just want the best controller setup for a heavy 3 axle GN. I have heard amazing results from the Jordan, but not sure if there is any adjustment to allow for my truck service brake setup

You need to set the cable to your application (pedal travel). As John H explained you need to keep the entire system tuned together.
I see you have a Pacbrake. Some want the the trailer brakes to activate slightly ahead of the chassis brakes in this case.

One of the great features of the Jordan is you have control when and how hard the brakes are applied with this controller. There are basically two adjustments to the wire: 1) When the brakes are applied, and 2) How hard they are applied during pedal travel. The third adjustment is the aggressiveness of the controller which you set on the controller.

1) "WHEN" is controlled by the length of the sensing wire. You adjust that to your liking
2) You can further adjust how your brakes will be applied according to pedal travel by where you place the bracket on the brake arm
3) Aggressiveness is set with the pot on the controller.

Great controller - - no jerking around, always operates exactly like your brake pedal once set up. You can rest your foot on the pedal and the controller will not operate until you depress the pedal to the point where you want the brakes to start as set by the wire length. AND, when the brakes start to work, it will not be a surge voltage causing a jerk, rather a gentle application just like the pedal.

I agree with the posts by Fiver and Fueling. The controller is brilliant in it's concept and execution. I swear by it now after 2700+ miles in mountains, on the flats and in stop & go. It rocks!

I put a piece of tape on the cable so I can gauge fine adjustments to get the initial braking time right. The Jordan takes a little setup time but well worth it. They work perfect in the mountains whereas the others I've tried go bizerk on steep grades. The Jordan also works when sitting at lights and backing up because it does the same as the vehicle brakes, all the time. Craig
