PullRite SuperGlide

I installed the 16k SuperGlide. RV dealership welded that plate on the bottom of the pin box. I've had no trouble in my few trips so far.
That being said, I'm a little concerned if I do have problems. If the truck breaks down, that plate on the pin box will prevent anyone from giving my 5er a tow. I'd be lucky to find someone with the PullRite Superglide installed, but seems highly unlikely.
Has anyone had this issue come up ???

I don't have the superglide hitch "YET" but I understand there is a upgraded plate so it can be removed easy for a standard 5er hitch.

I installed a Pulrite Superglide earlier this year as a DIY project. Initially I considered welding the Superglide plate to the pin box. Welding would have been easier than bolting it on. However, after reading throught the FAQ list the issue you raise was discussed. The only solution to moving the 5vr with a non Superglide hitch is to purchase an adapter plate from Pulrite. Although not a serious limitation, it is nevertheless an option I did not want to give up. Thus I bolted my plate to the pinbox.

I have had my Superglide for three years and love it. You can purchase an addapter from Pullright for about $120 that fastens onto the pinbox and turns it back into regular 5th wheel pin with no wedge. You need one to put on your 5er when you take it in for maint or repairs. I know because initially I did not have one and told service manager and tech working on refrigerator that they could not move it with regular 5th wheel. Well another employee wanted to move it to make room or another trailer and destroyed the adapter plate which they replaced for me and that is when I purchased the adapter and I never leave my 5er for service witlhout putting the adapter on so some DA can't damage it again thru ignorance.

You can get an adapter plate that fastens on the pin box with 4 large set screws and is thus removable for use with a regular 5th wheel hitch. With this type of adapter plate, no welding, no bolts thru the bottom of the plate, etc.
