Power Tow Mirror Conversion

I'm currently in the middle of taking the 4 mirrors that I have apart. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place where I could get two new fastners with the tabs so I don't have to reuse the old ones. Thanks

The best way to put it is probably a retaining ring with tabs that stick to the inside, any help would be appreciated.

Olee was trying to find a source for them, but it never went anywhere... just bend the old ones back... if you're taking apart four mirrors, just use the best two

Thanks, interesting think I have found out doing this conversion is Mopar has yet changed the design on the 94-02 mirror set. The once tapered design is now straight and now has 6 divit holes on the base so they can be held in the retracted position like the 03-05 tow mirrors which is making the conversion simplier but I am yet to take apart both drivers side mirrors.

I read the forum way before I purchased a set of used tow mirrors that came off an 04. I wanted to make sure I didn't get the mirrors with the new design that they have now.

ahh, I see what you're saying, yeah, the NEW 2nd gen MOPAR mirrors are a "direct fit" for the pre 05 OEM 3rd gen mirrors... I ran into that too and was very pleased

Since you have done this same thing already do you have to do any type of grinding to remove a tab on the drivers side mirror? I just hope since they changed it for us that I won't have to do this. Thanks

I good thing to use is gator clips when trying to figure out the wiring. That is what I did on mine. Also, the two light blue wires I believe on the connector are both the common so you can use on or the other or both when you connect it to the dark green on the mirror. The blacks can connect to either one on the connector or the mirror. Hopefully that helps some. PM me if you need some more help.

Search for tow mirrors in the pics section. There are a couple members with the diagram. I did I guess I will have to ebay for a pre 05 mirror. Does anyone know how to tell by looking at the newer mirrors, if they are pre or post 05?

The newer mirrors, which is what I got and converted, has a more rounded mirror arm and the base is about 2 inches longer where it mates to the mirror.
