Re:Payload
Well, I did it! Got a Laramie 3500 quad 4x4 long bed dually CTD HO with the 6-speed manual transmission. Man, do I love that truck. My 24 ft Coachman Catalina Lite TT feels like a gnat behind it. Time now to find a fifth wheel to go along with it. I'll be asking for some advice along the way about that. Thanks everyone for the help with the truck.
BobbyG (one happy camper)

Re:Payload
BoobyG,
Congantulations on the new truck. I have a 2wd 6spd dooley.
I had the same trailer with my SWB Ford automatic. The more I drive the Dodge and pull my trailer the more impressed I am with the Dodge.
I always thought my SWR pulled my trailer great, boy was I wrong. Also adding 70 hp and a standard transmission probably did not hurt any either.
One observation I have, I never had to worry about speeding with the trailer on the back in my Ford. I have to watch my mph with the Dodge, at times I will catch myself driving along speeding while pulling the trailer.
FWIW Randy

Bobbyg,

Welcome to the board! You will find lots of good information here. Sounds like the perfect truck for you. More than enough to do what ever 5th wheel you get. I'm glad you got the 4X4 if you are pulling in the mountains with snow.

Check out RV.NET to talk about 5 wheel setups. Great info between the two sites. ;D
