Re:payload

Depending on the cab configuration, transmission, and bed length this could very well be. The 2500s have a GVWR of 8800 pounds so the weightof the transfer case on a 4 x 4 reduces the payload from that of a 2 wd truck. I have the towing guide for the 2001 Ram models. If you want it let me know and I will scan it and email it to you.

BTW, Im trying to find the tow ratings for the 1999 RAM. Ive seen the link to it before but cannot find it now. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Re:payload

I hauled 62 bags of concrete that weighed 80 lbs before on the back of my 3/4 ton. I had about 1.5 inches left before the bump stops hit. The guy at home depot asked me what kind of truck I had. That was kind of impressive.

The biggest load I have had on mine was shingles, about 1700 lbs worth, and the truck didn't quite come down to level, but it sure rode better. The stock Cummins didn't know there was a load on the back.

Chris

Re:payload

I have a '99 2500 and ran it for over 100,000 miles with the single wheels. I daily load over 5000 pounds in the rear with the gooseneck. My rear axle weights run around 7,500 more or less depending on the load. With that weight the truck sits level or with the very slighest sag in the rear. Handles great, always has. Springs are stock with the camper special.
