are there any jobs like this around???
i can't remember where they were picking up the trailers(INDY i think)and i am sure they were paying just loaded miles, which wasn't great money after fuel and food expenses, but i was thinking of going that way for a holiday, and that would be a great way to pay for some of the fuel on the way down.
any one with any info on this, or similar jobs like this, could pass it on to me , and that would be great.
thanks
The companies that pay well ( Hoosier , Horizon ) aren't hiring . The ripoff companies are always hiring and getting desperate . I see some real junkers hauling RV's out there . Go to hotshothauling.com forums and watch for opportunities there , especially under the Wanted forum . These guys are honest and pay well . The forum is well monitored and all leads are checked out by monitors .

Someone's hiring for the Fema trailers. I'm a truck driver work around Indy, I've seen everybody and their brother hauling Fema trailers out of the South Bend area south to Indy, then west. Everything from CTD's/diesels to 1/2 ton gassers, even Explorers. Must be a demand down there that they're hiring anyone with a bumper hitch.

The $3.00/mile is probably what FEMA is paying the Horizons, Quality's and RAD Transports. Then those guys are nice enough to pass on the $1.10 to the folks actually doing the work and buying the fuel.

That company is probably Halliburton that is getting the $3.00 / mile.

3.00 a mile is a pipe dream. I live in the FEMA Mecca of Elkhart,IN and the best I've seen advertised around here is 1.17 a mile loaded only. There are many who do it and my hat is off to them, but the cold reality of it is you might make 500.00 for a 2 day trip busting your after expenses and that includes no wear and tear on your vehicle or any fees or insurance . If it really paid 3.00 a mile they wouldn't have huge ads in the paper looking for drivers cause most would quit their day jobs and haul them immediately, me included. They had an article in the local paper appx 3 months ago that they could hire 500 drivers no problem. I doubt if they ever found them......

I've thought about this too....Since I work 24 hours on/48 hours off, I would have no problem making a couple quick turn-arounds a week....But getting started is a complete mystery

Anyone ever talk to an auto dealership about this? I know in my hometown, the local Chevy place hires people with trailers to go retrieve cars from other dealerships for the local customers. Last i heard, one of my buddies traveled clear up to nebraska with his truck and trailer to get a car. Thats about a 700 mile trip one way.

already have an rv. it was just a passing thought

as for the fema trailers, i pulled one unit down there for mountain staTes rv out of aurora. they paid me and onother guy $1.25 a mile ($1650.00) to haul two 29 foot bumper pulls to baton rouge shortly after the hurricane hit

i didn't lose money on the deal but it was a four day run from colorado
GOOD WAY TO BREAK IN THE NEW CTD THOUGH

Guy's, my hat's off to anyone wanting to make some extra cash in their off time. All I can say is just price the insurance, let alone the other expense's involved. You will change your mind.
