Question Pacbrake or BD for auto

Hey Guys
I just posted this in 2nd Gen Acc too, I got to thinking this might be better.

Anyways I looking for info on Pacbrake or BD with an auto and your likes and or dislikes.

And what controllers people are using with Pacbrake since BD has here own.

Have to buy one shortly
TIA

I haven't tried neither. I like the Jake brake. Bolts right to the turbo, runs off the vacuum. Rolled off a 8% grade, 12 miles long in 4th gear at about 40 mph, only touched the brake peddle once. Heard good things about both brakes. but both require a air compressor to be installed, as well as the brake is installed down in the pipe which causes a little delay so I am told. Hope this helps.

The BD and the PAc brakes are bolted to the back of the turbo. The only exhaust brakes that use vacuum are the ones that have vacuum assist brakes. I have a Pac on a standard and it has been trouble free for as long as it has been on.

I have the Jacobs on my '03 HO NV5600 because it has a warranty from Dodge. If I had to go with a Packrake or the BD brake I would go with the Pacbrake PRXB as it makes more low rpm brake power. They all have the same max 160 brake hp at max rpm. Check their web for more info and software/hardware required for installation.

I also recommend the PRXB by Pac Brake. They do have a controller for the tranny if I recall correctly. Copy and paste this for a look at some of their offerings. This is not all inclusive so you may need to call them. http://www.pacbrake.com/applications...uide.php#dodge

I recently installed the pacbrake since I tow very heavy loads. I have the same truck as you. With the auto, to get any real braking power you will have to drop into 2nd gear. Turning the O/D off helps some but not a lot. Leaving it in drive your engine rpms will drop but I don't notice any real slowing of the truck. Can't help with a comparison.

I don't have an auto,but I do have a PRXB behind my G56.

It was a really easy install and the PRXB works great. I haven't hit any real long steep grades yet,but coming off the freeway at 60mph it slows my truck and trailer (10K fifth wheel) considerably.

Another feature I like is being able to use the PRXB as a 12v air compressor.

I'd do the PRXB again for sure.
