New turnover ball or 5er hitch???

I am getting close to purchasing 2003 24 foot 5th wheel camper. I like the turnover ball concept but I have a couple of questions. The 5th wheel hitches have large bearing surface vs. turnover ball hitch having only ball surface.. Is this a problem with long term wear? I also noticed an adapter you can purchase that bolts to bottom of trailer hitch that converts to truck bed ball on turnover. Do you get good service with this type of hookup and towing capabilities with this setup? I would like to one day purchase a gooseneck utility trailer to use with the turnover type hitch...

if you go with the B&W you can get a 5th wheel plate for it then you will be able to pull goose neck or 5er using the same set up, here is a link http://www.turnoverball.com/companion/

To Dantana;
If you have a short bed, (it looks that way in the link you provided). The B&W turnover ball could present a slight problem. As it is engeneered to go directly over the axel, you will not have proper clearence on sharp turns. The B&W is a well engeneered hitch,( I have both the gooseneck and the companion 5th wheel) but I also have a long bed pick up. You may need a slider hitch, like the "Reese". ( your truck looks real nice)

Agree

Reese , when you use the rail system, has a goose neck plate that will mount on the rails to allow for both set ups. I used this for many years. It performs well and the rails are not that obtrusive in the bed.

I think I would check with the trailer maker before I would even consider converting the trailer's hitch from a 5th wheel to a goose neck. The extra length acts like a cheater bar, putting a great deal more strain on the trailer's frame than it was designed for.

I have the B&W "Companion" 5th wheel hitch that attaches to the same socket that the turn over ball fits into, and I really like it.
