new truck is here!!!!

My truck is here!!!!
So far I have about 220 miles on it, engine and trans are starting to loosen up a little, just trying to get through the 500 mile no trailer towing break in. guys at the dealership couldn't believe how gorgeous this truck is, every dually they get is white or sliver, too plain for me! So far, I love the truck. My B&W hitch arrived today. First non draw tite hitch i have bought, but I really liked the option of the companion hitch for it. Getting an intake next month, slightly used from a friend, he installed it on his wife's 05, and she didn't like the extra noise. According to the overhead, mileage is at 16.3 right now, going to op it off, and manually check it. Even if it's not completely accurate, at least I'm not getting the 12 MPG some others have claimed. Now my biggest problem will be not running all over the back of my friends trailer, (they have a powerstroke) when i am following them and we hit a hill. Maybe I'll just start meeting them where we are going to ride...

Ya'll really tick me off. How dare you come on this site and tell us all about "MY NEW TRUCK is this and MY NEW TRUCK IS that?" I am sick of it. It really disgusts me. I WANT ONE TOO, MOMMY!!!

Congrats, people - - they are really pretty. Have fun and pet them nice each day - - it really helps their attitude.

Congratulations on purchasing a unit that will do the job more efficiently than the competetors' engines. I find that when I am driving my Dodge Cummins I am always being passed on the flat Interstate by those road runner type powerstrokes. My Cummins pulls along at 2000 to 2300 rpm on the flat road while I try to conserve fuel, but when a long incline is encountered the powerstrokes start slowing down and my Cummins hardly notices the grade increase. This is really evident when traveling in heavy traffic that slows all vehicles in both lanes. The ps trucks pulling heavy loads are struggling, but my Cummins keeps lugging along. I like pulling at no more than 65 mph just in case a traffic situation developes that needs evasive action. I am a little cautious especially when I have horses behind me. I consider those poor animals having a stressful ride when traveling too fast.

I have to admit the ps and duramax engines are highway runners out of necessity to develop enough power at a high rpm, but nevertheless they can move along swiftly on a flat road. I am going to install an overdrive auxilliary transmission so I can split gears and get more top end without overspeeding the engine. Anyway, I think Dodge is the best all round truck period.

Congrats on the new arrival Horselady. Why it seems like it was just yesterday you were inquiring about what to buy. I'm on my 2nd one & I love my dually 10 times over my 3/4 ton.

It does seem like just yesterday, truck was ordered, built and shipped in about 4 weeks, dealer said they had never seen one get here so fast. Installed the B&W today, seemed like it was really well built, but had one problem. One of the holes in the front crossmember was not tapped correctly and I did not discover this till the center section was in and I tried to bolt the right side frame rail on. I don't think I crossthreaded it, since I had to run the tap all the way through, and the threads didn't look buggered up at all, plus it tightened up really nice. Love the clean bed over the draw tite plates that I used to use. Going to try towing with it tomorrow, light load, just 6500lbs. I have around 300 miles on it, and called the dealer, thought it would be Ok since this was such a light load, but the book recommends 500 miles before towing, and we have been out every night putting miles on it. Just going to take it easy, and keep the speed down till I hit the 1,000 mile mark and then it's time to hit the mountains, and see what it's got! I will post pics, have to figure out how to do that!

I bought a SRW unit for better traction in mud and snow, plus two less tires to lug around and wear out. On the other hand, if I start pulling many trailer with a GTW of 25k to 35k lbs. I will certainly purchase a 4500 DRW unit when they are available. I sure like my Dodge but wish it had some grease nipples on the steering components.

I will certainly purchase a 4500 DRW truck when they are available. My Una-Goose gn hitch is absolutely the strongest gn hitch hitch I has seen. I sure like my Dodge, but I wish it had grease nipples on the steering components.
