New here, with new truck!

Just bought an '05 2500 crew/long bed ctd after not having a good truck for over a year now. I used to have a '97 2500 extended/ long bed ctd, loved the truck but hated the noise and inability to move more than 2 adults. Old truck had a janetty fuel plate, cold air and a 4" exhaust and I thought that thing moved out but lookout! The new truck would embrass the old girl stock!

I use the truck to to haul a slide in camper (11' palomino maverick 1100) and a race car trailer seemingly all over the country in the summer months on the rally circuit and to (way)upstate new york to race on frozen lakes January through March.

Not sure if I will modify the new truck, I learned the hard way last time that if you add some power to an automatic you must address the transmission as well! Dunno how much more than 610 ft/lbs of torque the tranny can stand!

Welcome to DTR, and I'm sure the third gen guys will be happy to help you out, but you can add a bit more to your engine withoug killing the tranny, especially with a VB upgrade.

Welcome to the site. You're generally pretty safe with exhaust, chip, intake w/o worrying too much about the transmission, but how much does your trailer weigh loaded?

Welcome, you may find you don't need to modify it much. My '05 pulls our 7200# TT pretty well.

If I could change anything it would be the lack of an OD LO on the 48re. Real pain when the tranny starts hunting for the right gear.

Loads of info on these forums, read up, and enjoy. And remember, bombing of any kind sets in motion a passion most men cannot control. You have been warned.
