well here are a few things to look at you should get you some gauges like a fuel pressure and boost and pryo . othere than those things these trucks will pull that kinda weight easy .

You'll pull the frame rails out from under the trailor.

Gauges on the way i have access to an edge comp but not sure if im going to put that on. Also new exhaust will be next to order. I hope to be able to pull small grades in 5th at 65 or is that a dream. Where we go their are some 7% grades that i would be very happy with if i could run 45 or so in 3rd or 4th the hills that have 7% are about 3 miles long.

Like said above...get your gages before you do anything. They will keep you well informed when pulling under a load.

My '99 has a few more miles and a few more addon's then yours, but when it was stock, I pulled an 8k # TT thru the Colorado Rockies with an 8" popup camper on the back and had no problems. If you really want towing capabilities, spend some money on a fueling box (you'll have to watch your EGT"s if you tap the wire on the Comp), RV 275 injectors, a good air intake and a 4" exhaust system. Also, an aftermarket fuel pump, like a FASS II, is highly recommended.

Besides pulling better, the additions will put a on your face.

With a few upgrades it will leave your buddies behind!!!
Get the gauges and a FASS and put on the comp. Yes open the intake and 4" exhaust.

comp is excellent for a beginner box. it was my first and i was very pleased with it. also a str8 pipe for the noise. you gotta rattle the ears of the ricearoni cars. i love it when they tell me i'm number 1, makes me feel all warm and goowey inside, lol. andlike they said gauges are a must. you'll be happy femporary. then you can sell it and go to piggy backing. OH YEAH.

I had a BD plug in power on my 2000 and it was a excelent box and it was safe my exhaust never got above 1300 with stock exhaust and I was pulling 30,000 truck + trailer but put gauges in they are worth it. Their are a lot more powerful boxes then the one I mentioned It just depends on what you want to do in the future. you can probably find a used programer on E-bay and save some cash!! Add 60 hp to that truck and 150tq and it will pull that weight with ease just remember you didn't upgrade the brakes

My old TV is a '99 Chev 6.5 which is still in the back yard (haven't put it up for sale yet). I was dissapointed with it's ability to pull 10K, so I decided to look for what I actually wanted in the first place. I have that now and pulled 10K for the first time Fri. and I wasn't all that impressed. Sure, it did a lot better job, but it wasn't what I was expecting. Am I expecting too much? This isn't that much weight, is there something wrong with my new truck? I'm very happy with it, but I'm starting to wonder if I didn't give the Chev enough credit. I could really tell I was pulling some weight but didn't have to have it floored on the hills like with the Chev. My current FW is only about 5K empty which the main thing I'll be pulling with this truck so I don't think I'll have a problem there.
