Unhappy My commode!

I've got a 33' Holiday Rambler 5th wheel Presidential. I think my granddaughter threw a toy in my commode. Should I treat it like a regular commode and drive a snake through it, or try something else. I'm new to this R.V. business. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Most R.V. toilets that im familiar with dont have a "trap" built into them. They just dump into a 3 in. PVC line then to the holding tank, or directly into the tank. If the object is blocking the pipe, you can probably stick a snake down the toilet, being careful not to scratch the finish. Most toilets are plastic. If the object went into the holding tank. I think the only way to remove it would be to flush it out with water as you would when emptying the tank. Frank

you can unbolt the toilet and pick it up. some rv toilets drop strait inot the tank, others don't. Turn the water and pump off and use a flashlight and look down the toilet opening. If you can see what she dropped try to hook it with something. If not, fill the tank up with water all the way and pull the valve. let it spill out onto the lawn. If theres not that much in the tank to begin with, you can simply hose it away. You really need to know that you get it out. if not, you'll end up on the road somewhere with a full black tank and a giant clog from debris collecting behind the toy and you won't be able to dump it. An rv repair shop wil charge you a very big bill to deal with a clogged full black tank.

You might try going to a plumbing company and see if they have a small pipeline camera to send down into the tank. Just when you think the toy has passed through the tank and out, your pipe's might start backing up right at the wrong time on a trip.
I for one would want to know for sure it's not going to get hung up and block flow.

5ver with a mid toilet..If its a small toy that can fit through the 3 inch pipe then I wouldn't worry about it. It will be in the waste tank and will come out when you dump. If its larger and stuck in the pipe then you could unbolt the toilet and double bag your hand and arm and reach in and grab it, a wire coat hangar also works if it can be hooked. If the pipe goes "straight" down into the waste tank without any angles then you could unbolt the toilet flange from the floor, undo the clamp on the rubber adapter on the tank and pull the pipe up through the floor. You can see into the tank with a flashlight and mirror but if it made it into the tank it will probably come out when you dump.
