Im really hoping i get the same result. i would hate to get rid of the truck and have to get a smaller toyhauler because of my truck

 

What kind of receiver does it have? If it is a stock class 3, it will be under rated for the tongue weight that loads the truck 5".

 

Trailer sway is always an issue. Some trailers are just worse than others. I usually advertise our 5th wheel hitches on this site, but our flahship product is the Hensley Arrow anti-sway trailer hitch. It's expensive but you'll never feel a passing truck again (or lose your trailer).

 

My toy-hauler swayed a bit when the back was empty. Runs nice with lots of weight in the back (2 full sized bikes). I believe that the trailer was designed to carry the extra weight in the back. I also use a Reese wd hitch, with a friction sway bar.

 

A properly setup weight distributing/anti-sway hitch should solve most of your problems. If that is not enough, add timbrens or air bags. Timbrens have worked great on my truck when used with an "Equal-i-zer" 1000/10000 hitch. I installed the DR2500CA (6,000lb springs) timbren kit on my truck without the spacer so that they only come into play when I am loaded heavy. You should be running the max sidewall PSI in your tires when towing heavy.

 

Certain trailers will sway more due to axle placement too, alittle foward & you get sway.I had one that the center of the axles were 6" behind center,it came w/car tires,then I went to 6-plys helped alot & put some reece load levelers on it & it worked better but then if I had a heavy load it would push the rearend up & down,so I bought another trailer 20'cargo ,the first was 16' the 20' has the axles way back,it tows like a dream,but I have to load the front lighter than the back so I don't get so much tongue weight.

 

well i drove it home last night from the trailer shop went probably 5miles down the interstate and it seemed much better. It makes a popping sound when you take off like the hitch is moving is that normal??

 

Depending on the design, some weight distribution/anti-sway hitches can be pretty noisy.

 

Could be the pin that holds in the hitch in the reciever. Mine started makin noise this last trip and it was the stupid locking pin that had worn down due to a sleve that goes around the larger pin.

Could also be the 2 large bolts that hold the main piece together are not super tight and have the spacer wedged tight.

In all check everything that they touched. I trust no one to touch my chit, including myself if I haven't checked it twice. All for good reasons.

It moan like a old lady due to the friction device.

 

The best hitch to control sway is the Pro Pride or hitch hog.Dont waste your money on a Hensley with its and unadjustable stinger and $500 higher price than a Pro pride.The Pro pride is everything the Hensley is and more for less money.Do your own comparison.

I like the hitch hog if it makes it to market,should be great for guys who occasionally need the capabilitys of a dually,but dont want to drive one everyday or have the expense of the extra tires and width full time.Best part is it adds up to 2000lbs of legal payload,esp important with diesel 4x4 2500 trucks.
