$oC@l CTD,

Here is a TSB that the service people should be aware of http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2006/08-021-06.htm

I have plans on getting this TSB done myself for the very reasons you state. I will also make up a jumper with conventional fuses in it to hopefully protect the TIPM.......

Here's another thread that dealt with this issue...

I'm not throwing any codes though...should I be if there is a problem? I will definitely bring that to the dealer's attention though, when I go...thanks!

My question to all of you out there with 06's that actually use them regularly for towing is this...did you all get the TSB done on your truck and did it actually fix it? Or am I looking have having to make a jumper with fuses myself to fix this problem? I am pretty upset about this. I bought this truck for towing and paid nearly 50K for it and it is useless as of right now to me...

No, I did not have the TSB done, and no, I am not having this problem.

Next time you talk to the dealer don't give up any information. Treat it like an interrogation. Only give answers to questions asked. These "richard" heads just look for ways to get out of work and will use what they say against you.

Another great reason to own a CTD. We towed a 35ft Phoenix offshore sportfisher 10ft beam, no hwy permit 275mi @ roughly 70mph. Of course w/out the twin Caterpillar 3126(1200# each)motors. I'm guessing 14k lbs, maybe more. Triple axle alum trailer and we flew down the hwy. Unbelieveable power for a stock 2500 4x4 5spd. Now installing twin Yanmars and wondering if my auto CTD would be ok to tow it weighing in around the
12k lb mark? I really don't need another tranny or want to buy one. Slown and easy or don't even try it?

i had a similar issue with my 07 when i first installed the electric jack on the front of my trailer. it is powered off the truck's harness. they told me that the initial setting for the trailer harness is something like 5 or 7 amps. the update should increase this to like 15 amps. i haven't had any problems since having it done. i agree pretty asinine for that rep to even hint that using provided wiring adapters would void your warranty. good luck and let us know how it all turns out. fwiw .. the update only took about 20 min for my dealer to do. they are an awesome bunch of guys. when you get back out here to nova i'll introduce you to them.
