A side note, got a BS answer from dodge on rim capacity, I copied it in a post elsewhere, "that information is unavailable" was their answer. Being a structural engineer there is someone that knows the rim capacity.

Did contact Fumagalli the manufacturers of the rims and they directed me to Maxion who distributes them and they came up with 3100# for singles and 2750# for dually rims. This makes no sense from an engineering standpoint for the rim capacity. The dually rims should be able to carry larger loads than the wider rims on the single rear wheel rims if they are made of the same thickness and grade of steel. Also a BS answer, I can divide the rear axle weight rating on the door jambs by 2 and get 3100# myself.
You can carry more weight on that end of the axle with duals, but the wheels and tires are rated to carry less than singles. You don't always have both tires evenly on the ground is one reason for it.

what are the stock rim rated for i have a 2008 dually and the stock rims are stamped with a rating of 2600 pounds@80psi so you might only be over by 150 on the tires but way over on the rim rating

My truck is brand new, but when I'm ready to replace tires remind me to take a look at those. Are they D or E rated? I don't haul much and I'm not in mud much but those are sweet looking tires. They'd look great on mine.

3195lb load rating. Load Range E. Typically around 350ish a tire. I picked those up from my local guy who Ive been buying tires with for the last dozen or so years for 340 a tire.

Cant beat the Open Country Mts

Found "Load and Inflation Table" on RV.net. LT 265-70-17 E that are OEM on the 2010 CTD have ratings of 3195# at 80 psi, and 3100# at 75 psi. Dodge has the 3100# rating and 75 psi on the door sticker.

This makes me more comfortable running stock rims, looks like dodge rear axle rating is Tire limited, as I and most others on RV forums think.

I have found Ford rim capacities online and they are about 3500#.

$350 a tire makes me glad I'll only need four and not six.

Might check out 4 wheel parts.com for prices. I went with Les Schwab, price was higher, not much, do have brick and mortar place with good service reputation.

About 6 years ago, AAM, the manufacterer of our axles, used to list the weight rating on the 11.5 rear axle on their website. Can't find it anymore. It was 11,900 odd pounds at the time.

Just so I'm clear, the 285/75/17 Open Country M/T/s won't rub on stock rims with no lift, correct?

Know the 285-70-17 do not rub on stock rims no lift and 4000 pounds in the bed.

Whiteeye42: where did you see the rating stamped on the rim. Was it inside under the tire?

285/75/17
need to solve spacing issues.
