Looking for a place to camp and ride horses around Winfield Colorado.

I was wondering if anyone on here lived around Winfield, or Buena Vista Colorado. I was back there several years ago with my dad and we parked our trailer out by the lake, and rode back to the Banker Mine area. We had a blast, but I was looking for a place to pull the trailer to with the horse's and camp back in there, and I remember Winfield had an open field around the town, on the river, but I wasn't sure if it was ok to camp there.

Thanks for the help in advance.

You can camp there at Winfield.. Plenty of spots.. Also there are many spots on the way up from the lake, Clear Creek Res. and also around Vickburg.. Lots of little roads to the side with camping spots too.

We camp and go dirt bike riding up there once every year..

We live about 2 hours from the area.

If your going up there Elk hunting, be ready for deep snow.. Pay attention to the weather forcasts.. They have to go up and rescue hunters up in that area every few years because of a big snow storm.. Might be better to stay down by the lake.. Its about a 30-45 min drive to Winfield from there.

Plenty of nice deer and elk in that area.

In summer we have to be very careful of bears.. Tons and tons of bears up there.. Respect that. There are even many stories of big foot sightings around Vicksburg, believe it or not.. lol

Have Fun!!
