The plans the wife and I had for this weekend have changed and we are thinking about taking the RV on a long weekend trip. WE have never done this before, we ususally just use it when I race.

The question is.....can you just find places to camp while on the road or are you better off reserving a spot somewhere. Also I would prefer to camp in a secluded area, not in a RV park, stacked up like a a RV devolpment.

Do any of you guys have any ideas for a long weekend trip that would be about a days drive from the Chicago area?

You might want to try and call a place since this is a holiday weekend. Most campgrounds are pretty busy on the 4th.

 

Drive down I-57 to Southern, Illinois. We have a lot of beautiful State parks down here. Fern Cliff is real nice even when it's hot. Check on the web for the state park web site. Enjoy.

 

Over here in Missouri, you better have a reservation, if your going to stay at a state park. Anytime during the summer for a weekend visit.
