L-tank question

I'm looking to put a L tank on my truck and tap it to run to my stock tank also. Has anyone ever put a system like this on?

Yes, I took a long bed L-tank had it chopped to fit a SWB. It's about 70gal now vs. orig 100. If you look close in the pic above there is a NPT fitting on the bottom left. Per D.O.T. you can have it gravity flow/feed into your factory tank via one of the access ports on the top of the tank. From there the fuel follows the normal factory path to the IP. Mine is kind of slow to gravity feed via 3/8 line but overall works well. I think I'm going to install a small pump so I can turn it on/off. The price was right to buy the tank and have it chopped vs new...and ohh, I'm still running on $2/gal fuel which is a +.

I wonder if anyone ever sits an ATV on top of the lower part of the tank? That would be convenient if it didn't crush the tank when you tie the quad down!

I have my tool box sitting on mine, and it isnt long enough to go all the way across so it doesnt sit on the sides. It holds it up just fine, infact, when the pressure builds up in the tank it pushes it up. I doubt a quad would put that much more weight on it. Even if it was a problem you could probably lay a piece of plywood on top of it to strengthen it up.

we have several in our fleet this way we gravity feed through a 2 micron filter to a fitting we install in the filler neck on the truck tank. works perfect no pumps, keeps tank full of pre filtered fuel

Northern Tools, sells a fitting that goes in your filler neck that will not allow this fuel to overfill the tank. A friend has one he runs a 3/8", line from the auxiliary tank to a valve on a fuel filter mounted on the Fram rail then another valve then to be adapter in the fuel filler neck. The two valves are mounted on the filter housing so he can change filters easily. He changes filters when his fuel gauge starts dropping off a full which indicates a dirty filter for the top tank ran out of fuel.
