king pin goose neck plate

I bought an 1989 d250 from a plumbing supply company and it has a Goosneck plate in the bed. Well I fliped it up once I got home and found it was a king pin like the one that is on a otr trailer they had a trailer that hooked up to the truck. I was wondering what I can do with what I have? I looked at it for a little and it didnt seem like I could thread the kingpin off and replace with a ball for a regular goose neck it loooks like I would need a whole different plate to make it work and i looked at the plate it is welded to the frame on the inside and outside of the frame. I dont have a trailer at the moment but eventualy I want to get a goose neck trailer. Rite now that kingpin is useless unless I flip the truck upside down and lock it into a otr tractor 5th wheel

Does it look like this:

Curious as I have seen this before and not seen the trailer side of what attaches to it.

We have that same set up at work on our F-350, and they use the same inverted system on some oil field trucks. I guess the only real nice thing is you don't have the 5th wheel taking up space in the bed.

When you buy a trailer you don't have to go with a ball, you can go with a kingpin. Or if you find a used trailer the inner tube that you adjust for height just slide it you and replace with a kingpin one. They run around $200
