I Was Made an Offer
The offer made is a "used" Remco/Blue-Ox class 4 tow bar and a (still in the box) Even Break. The toad weighs 'bout 2400 lbs and the bar is rated at 10,000lbs.All I would need to do is buy a base plate for the Civic @430.00 + shipping or make it for metal and gas plus running an outboard electric wire for the lights.List price for the bar is 740.00 and the Even brake is 1100.00.He wants 800.00 for both and the price is non-negotiable.Knowing how this person maintains their belongings, this seems like a good deal but, what say you?
Valv, that's my name for a separate wire from the rv to the toad for the brake light.I would need to install another bulb in each tail light and run the wire to the rv's harness rather than using the toads loom.
I figured that's what it was.
I am in the boat parts business and I thought somewhere in this country people has outboards with lights on at night.
You never know what these guys in the south can come up with....

Sounds like a loot of money for a flat tow setup? I bought a used bar for my Jeep for $50, looked brand new. Rated at 5k, jeep weighs 4500. Never had an issue. Really didn't need any extra braking for it either. I would think you could weld up a plate for the front of the civic, buy a regular tow bar, and wire it for under $300 pretty easily.
You wouldn't have toad brakes, and you wouldn't have the convenience of the OX setup, but thats a lot of coin.
