how much weight can i tow

I have a 2007- 2500 crew cab 4x4 dodge diesel. I'm looking to buy a fifth wheel toy hauler. I'm looking at a Fusion that has a listed dry weight of 11,800lbs. My wife of course really likes another model that has a dry weight of 13,030lbs. My question is can I tow these campers with my 3/4 ton? Are there any modifications that should be made?

I tow a 17k+ loaded with my 2500 and have never had an issue .But you need to make sure the trailer brakes are always in good condition as well as tires, I wont run cheep tires. I run Goodyear g614 on the trailer and Michelin on the truck . pulling it wont be the issue , stopping will

you can tow either one with ease. you need to fill out your sig. i hate auto's and can not help with that if you have one. some things common to both, there is only one true, safe brake controller made. it is a maxbrake. it makes the others look like junk unsafe toys that they are. next get a bd exhaust brake. i am going to assume you have a g56 if its a auto someone here will chime in to help. the g56 came with a dual mass flywheel. the ones like us that tow heavy the dmf's failed before warranty was out and most chose to go back with a smf rather than use the warranty. if yours is still the dmf, you need to get a southbend kit, for my fleet i changed all of ours out to the single disk conofe. i am at 425 hp and 900 ft lbs torque, i see a huge number of people use the 3250 dual disk, they say it is quieter than my conofe. for towing the g56 has to be filled one quart over full to lube and cool the front bearing. mix one gallon of sae 50 synthetic syncromesh transmission fluid with one gallon 5w-30 synthetic syncromesh transmission fluid and use 7 quarts. while the g56 is out replace the red rubber boot on the shifter use dorman #614-002 and i think a #48 hose clamp. replace the transfer case fluid with sae50 fluid as used in the 50-50 mix brands are not important i use dello because i stock it for my roadrangers. delvac you can get from ww granger and royal purple from napa. use 75w-140 synthetic in the differentials on the 5th wheel hitch get one that rocks both side to side and forward backward. on the trailer if it has 15" rims, change to 16. get about the same height tires in a radial load range E lt tire (not a st ). the above is must. try this for a while and pm me and i will give you some ideas to get 30% better mpg and a very nice 2 wheel drive low reverse. pix one is a 3/4 ton with over 1,100,000 loaded way heavier and used to pull a very heavy pintle hitch trailer most of its life. the other two are one ton 06's. the one with a line truck i grossed 39,600, pix taken when i picked it up in north Carolina 1,600 miles from home

I will look at the Maxbrake control,i have the prodigy brake control now. don't know much about the exhaust brake- will have to look into that. Should I get extra spring package to help with the hitch weight. one camper has hitch wt. of 2400lbs the other is at 3000lbs.

I put airbags on my truck and only run 25 lbs in them, with 2200 hitch weight, no sag what so ever.

Don't 'look at' the Maxbrake, GET ONE! They are a tad on the pricey side, but they're not your regular controller either. I don't even know why the DOT approves the pendulum type controllers for use. They shouldn't, they're dangerous and use backyard technology at best.

you do not need springs or air bags. but if you will get air bags you can set the level of the truck the same as empty and your headlights are the same as empty. i keep one pound in empty and have a chart for the most common loads i carry. for unknown loads i use a tape measure to set pressure. chaikwa and i are giving it to you straight on the maxbrake.

I have an 06 2500 and tow a 2011 Fuzion 322. The dry weight is approx 11,400. Max GVW for the 2500 is 20,000 lbs I believe. Truck + trailer + passengers+supplies etc.= GVW.
