How long does it take yours to downshift?

When I'm towing my 7500# travel trailer, it seems to take an awful long time to shift into overdrive. It will sit at 62-65 MPH and tach about 2400 for the longest time before finally giving it up and downshifting.

Occasionally, I will let off the accelator so it will drop and then get back onto the accelarator. This method usually works and hasn't seemed to cause any problems, however I am concerned that this just isn't the way things are supposed to be working.

Someone please clarify if what I am doing is okay, or bad for my truck or whatever.

Thanks

Jason

Jason,
Mine does the same thing especially in tow/haul mode. I had an "03" that was recalled and reflashed and it started to behave the same way. I think it has to do with giving more life to the trans. I just back off a bit and it goes into OD then chug away
