How long does it take yours to downshift?
How long does it take yours to downshift?
When I'm towing my 7500# travel trailer, it seems to take an awful long time to shift into overdrive. It will sit at 62-65 MPH and tach about 2400-2600 for the longest time before finally giving it up and downshifting.
Occasionally, I will let off the accelator so the tach will drop and then get back onto the accelarator to maintain or increase speed to the desired amount. This method usually works and hasn't seemed to cause any problems, however I am concerned that this just isn't the way things are 'supposed' to be working.
Someone please clarify if what I am doing is okay, or bad for my truck, or whatever.
Thanks
Jason

Mine does the same thing and sometimes I do the same thing. But don't you mean upshifting instead of downshifting? I guess that's just the way the 48RE shift points are programmed.
