Hot Shot Tires
I really would like to know what tires you run on your hot shot trucks. I have 35k on my American Generals and I'll need some new tires soon.
I was thinking of trying some Michelin this time.
Thx

I had very good luck with the OEM Michelins on my old truck, got 53K out of them (4WD, plus, driving it like a car as a daily driver).
For the real distance you are going to need to look at 19.5's ($$) I think you can get 100K out of them fairly easily, plus a little bump in rating too.

I was thinking about Michelins too, there's a guy selling his wheels and he has 72000 miles, they are a little below 1/2 thread, I was impressed. They run approx $ 50 each more then the Am Gen, but they last twice as much.

i runmichelins on all of the duallies and i have never gotten less then 50k out of them. I'm gonna change to 22.5' s since i have a trailer and a truck that runs them so i can get a lot more miles for about the same price

I thought about going to the 19.5s. But I decided when I do that, I'll just go ahead and get the truck to go with them. From my own experience, all the Michelin's tires that I've had, were fantastic as far as wear and traction.
I just didn't know how they would hold up. So that's why I thought I would check with the professionals before I start spending money.
Thanks for the info.
Hope you guys are burning lots of Diesel.

There has been debate over whether rotating tires is worthwhile . One thing rarely mentioned is whenever tires are rotated a good shop checks the tire pressure . How many guys check their tire pressure that often ? Proper inflation is a key to long tire life .

I rotated every other oil change and kept my pressure at 75psi. With the Unimog, I don't bother until they have 15,000 or so on them. They are sand tires and last around 85,000 miles.

On my new cars or trucks or when I buy new tires. I buy the life time rotate and balance from Discount Tire. I have them rotated every 6-7k miles. On my truck and trailer, I check the tire pressure at the beginning of the work week and inspect the tires every time I get a chance (after loading and en route stops). I run 60 in the front, 65 in the back and 70 on the trailer.
