Hot shot driving?
How do you get involved in hot shot driving? Does this require a special licence or your truck to be equipped according to different laws? Then what do you look for in work? Thanks for any help.

Their has been a lot of discussion on this subject before if you do some research on the forums you should be able to find it. there are specil laws and liscense for the hot shot work. you fall under the laws that the big trucks go by

Re:Hot shot driving?
I pull for Saskatoon Hotshot, a Canuck company. The U.S. companys seem to pay better, with the dollar exchange. Jet Transportation is another company based out of Middlebury, Indiana. My advice to you is, do your homework before signing on with anyone. Maybe the Yankee companies are different, but with the Canuck ones, everybody runs by a different set of rules. Some run private owner plates, some don't run log books, some run only loaded mile log books, etc, etc. Fact is, the laws for us are identical to the big rigs. If somebody tells you different, get it in writing, just to protect yourself down the road. If they think they are doing it legally, and won't sign, that should send off alarms! As far as if there's a buck to be made? Yes, but not many. Fuel is the biggest expense, so care has to be taken on driving habits, purchasing, etc. Hope this helps.
