Help: FP gauge dropped tos 0psi on 6% grade
Help: FP gauge dropped tos 0psi on 6% grade
Last week, 10 miles into a 15 mile 6% grade, my FP gauge dropped from 12psi to 0psi
. I was towing 13.5k 5er and no change in performance. Happened again today on the Grapevine, towing 5er again. At the top, when both grades eased, the gauge popped back to 12psi.
1. Any idea on what's happening??? Maybe:
a. A short to the gauge?
b. Airdog LP overheating and shutting down? It's only got 20K miles on it and I change filters every 6K miles.
2. Will the CP3 pull enough fuel towing that heavy up steep grades to not impact towing ability?
3. What should I do to trouble shoot?
Thanks in advance for any ideas!

it is defiantly not the cp3. it looks like filter restriction. the pump used in the airdog has been more reliable than some of the others. if the filters do not fix then pull the line loose from the cp3 and turn the key on it needs to deliver at least 350 ml in 10 seconds
It was an instantaneous drop from 12psi to zero on the gauge. It popped back to 12psi at the top of the grade. Couldn't replicate it today w/o the trailer. I measure FP at the elbow into the CP3
BTW all my gauges are isspro except the FP, which is a Westach. Checking the troubleshooting guide at Geno's:
http://www.genosgarage.com/installat...ssureGauge.pdf
It says to check ground when the gauge drops to zero. How do I do that when it only does it under heavy load on steep grades?
Could something be telling the Airdog to defuel or did the Airdog overheat and "take a time out". Thoughts?
