Good gooseneck

Ok Guys and girls here in the next month or so i am going to by looking at buying my frist gooseneck. I think i need about a 28 ft with a 5 dove to be able to haul two early bronco both weighting under 10,000lbs together. I am looking right now a gatormade trailer but looking for opinions on other trailers also. So I would like to get peoples opinions on trailers like how you like them, how they pull with and with out a load on them and if you were going to buy other one would you buy that trailer again.

Been towing g/n's for almost 10 years now on a daily basis. Althoug this does not qualify me as an expert - Legend Trailers of Eustace TX and PJ Trailers are the best made trailers in my hosest opinion. The one shown on my pics is 8 years old and has loaded and delivered tons (I mean 1,000,000 of lbs) of equipment. Pulls great and has a warranty the the owner (Jack) will back up 100%.

But what do I know...I just a stupid hot shot driver.

Doing government inspections on many trailers, I've found that looking at the wiring is a good measure of the overall build quality. Last week, I looked at one built here in Canada that actually had all the underside wiring encased in 2000psi hydraulic hose! Looks pretty expensive but you won't have to rewire it in a couple years like most trailers.

I pull a 25 foot 14,000#. Gn built in Sikeston, MO by Mid America Trailer. Had it special built. Recomend 10" x 12# I beam to get as low as possible. Think about load ramps and needs carefully. Put a floor in the V up front. Can really stash stuff there. Consider dual jacks up front. Build box in front to hold chains, ect. Keep rear bumper high. You definitelly need rear clearance. Brakes on all four wheels and I like 235 80 16 ST tires. Some do powder coat paint. Neat.
There are numerous builders in Sikeston and might be worthwhile to visit.

Many manufactures have gone to cheap import axles. I bought a Pro-Trak, located in Wills Point TX. Works great, No real complaints. The dealer I got it from used to sell PJ, but said he quit selling them when they went to import axles. I had a Keifer Built, it was ok, but it was kinda crude, lacked quality. There are a lot of good trailers out there, buy its the little things that make it a great trailer, ie; good paint, good wiring, good axles, features that make it user friendly.

Their are many builders of trailers and most of them are over priced......I look for function rather then pretty wiring can be fixed or upgraded, paint will always get chipped or banged, deck wood gets broken or torn up, but frame work and axels are important along with a quailty hitch

Another thing to look at are crossmember spacing if they are set at 24" the deck boards take the strain.....I have my trailers built by Loudo Trailers in Newberry, FL but I Spec 16" crossmembers dual jacks rather then a single jack and I replace their cheap hitch with a better one the other upgrade I spec are wider ramps with extra rungs welded on Loudo gives me the best bang for my buck

Are you talking about 28ft + 5ft dovetail, or 28ft total ?
I don't think you will fit 2 early broncos on a 28ft long deck.
I have a 29ft and could not fit an Impala and a Saab 900, I needed 5 " more.

I have a 30' kaufman. I like it, no problems at all. it's about 2 years old. I think it's 25' flat and 5' dovetail.

I have a 24' H&H tilt deck car trailer! Works great to haul 2 Wranglers! and great around the shop to haul broken down autos. I also have a 32' Kaufman 2 car trailer with out dove tail. Hardly ever drags.

You don't want a dove tail so you will be able to get offroad and not get hung up. With lifted trucks a low car trailer will help get them down out of the wind. That extra 16" deck height costs a couple mpg. If only hauling 10k you don't need the big heavy duty trailer. Weight cost mpg.

I have an H&H tilt deck. If you want cheap go with them, if you want high quality look elsewhere. It serves my purposes(hauling my 4x4 and tractor for grass cutting company) but would not stand up to commercial use. It BARELY handles what I throw at it, lots of gravel roads.

My trailer is 3 yrs old already I have had to do tires once(almost time again), lots of wiring fixes(its all exposed), replace taillights, replaced breakway battery and have broken a u-bolt.

Axles are slightly out of alighnment so it goes thru tires fast! Also the axle are some goofy odd ball thing and use a goofy bolt pattern. Tired 3 different tire shops and in the end HAD to go back to the dealer to get a spare tire.
