We just returned from a 3,000 plus mile vacation and we got 9-10mpg at 65-70 towing our 28ft 5ver that weighs 11k loaded. Traveled from So. Nevada to No. Montana (Glacier National Park) I get 16-17mgp at 75 when not towing. I have just over 12,000 on the truck now and no problems at all, but 90% of my driving has been towing on the highways.

I just returned from a trip to Gatlinburg TN from St. Louis

My 5th wheel is approx 11,000 - 12,000 (not sure)

I got 10.5 and I averaged 65 - 68mph. If I go above 70 mileage drops quickly.

Just finished 13,050 miles into Mexico, up the coast to Washington, then home via Rainier, Yellowstone, Tetons, etc. 12.9 mpg on the overhead which is always within .2 or so when checked. That included some very interesting 10 - 11% grades in Baja. This is pulling 16,000# high frontage fiver - - 24,000 pounds total with truck.

fuel mpg towing

My truck just turned 18k and is all stock as far as mechanical. On a recent 800 mile round trip from St Augustine, FL, to the Destin, FL, area, I got 10 on the overhead. That is driving 70mph with the cruise and a/c. My fiver weighs 8100 lbs empty and I figure about 9100 loaded for the trip. I have 2 bicycles mounted on a front receiver hitch bike rack.

Pulling our 32ft 5th wheel I get between 11.5 to 12, up hills and down, it only weighs in at about 9K, worst was coming back from Gulf Shores with a storm in my face all the way home, 300 miles, @ 6 -7 mpg. Last weekend going and coming to Wind Creek state park, I got 11 -12, and the hills and troopers made me to have to grab a gear on most of them, if not the dorks that saw the trooper and slowed to 50 mph in a 65 mph zone.

We just returned from a 1675 mile vacation and got 13.5 mpg at 60-65 towing our 28.5ft 5ver that weighs 10k loaded. Traveled from Boise Id to No. Montana (Glacier National Park) then Silverwood (North Idaho). Truck just turned 59,000 on return leg (200 miles from Boise) and no problems at all, all on non interstate roads.

I was hauling bales this weekend with my 06, and averaged 6.5 mpg. The gcw was about 30 000 lbs, running down soft gravel roads, and its still fairly new, (11 000 miles) so i had it floored the whole time. Egts hovered between 1200-1350, got to get those rings seated

Average 10-11.5 pulling a fullsize offroad rig on a deck over weighing about 8800 total (speeds range 55-70). All highway with half in the PA mnts (which really aren't all tha steep). Used to get 12-13 before ultra low sulfur.
