Firestone Ride Rite Suspension

Anyone using the Firestone Ride Rite Air Suspension with their Fifth Wheel Setup? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FI...0035/?rtype=10

I'm not sure if this is too much or if just the bags is enough...

I have the bags and they have been plenty. The pics of that system don't really relate to the dodge suspension. you already have super overloads. Just soaking your wallet.

I took the picture from Summit, I saw this suspension been installed on a 2011 Ford. Thought it would be a nice thing to do, but if the bags are just enough then I will get them. That will save some cash.

Thanks...

I have the Bags only and it is all I need for pin weight just over 2m lbs.
25 lbs. of air pressure levels my truck and the ride is great. Can't see why you would need to spend over 2 grand.

same here, just pulled a 10,000lb 5th wheel and a 10,000lbs 5th wheel and boat over 2500 miles and rode great. Had over 50lbs in the bags.

I installed the bags and the compressor on my 95 . They are great , I can now control the level for my fiver by just adding air. The friend added the same system on his 3500 06 4 door cab to haul his sand spreader. He has an 8' spreader so lots of over hang. His complaint that the helpers would hit and cause a bad ride. so he removed the helpers and added the bags and compressor and when the hoper is full he adds air to the bags and as the sand is used he removes the air from the cab control. He said he likes the control he has and the better ride.Helper spring can be a pain if the weight is not enough to keep the weight on the helpers at all times.the bounce on and off the helpers is a pain. I`am happy to have spent the coin for the bags. Helpers are garbage I think. my .02

I'm assuming that kit from Firestone is full replacement springs and an air suspension for that price.

Most people that go with air load support only add on air and do not change any leafs.

If you are interested in adding an air system, we offer kits for your vehicle and many options on how to control the pressure.

Feel free PM or email me and I can help you find the right kit and controller that would best suit your needs and wallet.

I believe that's the same suspension they installed on an episode of Trucks on a Ford.

If it is, the biggest benefit they were touting were a much softer spring rate while unloaded because they are swapping to a lighter set of springs. I believe it also had an automatic load leveling control that would inflate the bags as needed. A nice setup, but definitely pricey.

Can't see why you would need anything other than the bags.

I bought the Firestone RideRite kit (bags and mounting brackets) for my '92 off eBay and bought a Viair compressor off Craigslist and added a used air tank off a semi and built my own on-board air system to level out the load from our travel trailer. I can't see ever needing anything more than what the air bags will handle and I love how it handles and carries the load.

I just installed Pacbrake bags. They seem to be a little better built, but tend to be more expensive as well.

Haven't towed with them yet though.

I have Ride Rites on my '08, and the only problem I've ever had wasn't with the bags but the dual needle gauge. I had 2 failures in 20 months, the first was replaced under warranty and the second when I put the WirelessAIR system in instead. No more bag air in the cab of my truck, no more failures, and I can actually walk around the truck and balance the load if I need to.

It seems that if you remove or put softer springs on to replace the factory ones and you have a failure in one of or both bags you are in trouble.
