Who's running firestone airbags with the factory overloads? Where did you mount the airbags? Pictures would help a lot.

On my '99, the correct part # shows them mounted on top of the spring pack. But with my overloads, there does not seem to enough room. And they would also make the overloads useless.

But the part# for '94-'98, shows them mounted on the inside of the leaf springs, on the factory bumpstops. This seems like the correct place to mount them for me, but since it is not for my year, there may be other issues that I am just not seeing.

 

look in my photos, i have firestones mounted on my 97 with factory overloads.
With the bags FULL of air, i spend little time on the overloads.
But I rarely run the to the max,
Ill try to put some picts on here to.

If you can get the ones that go on the inside get them. I have the ones on top of the springs and they do limit spring travel . but they will fit with the over loads springs ,just doesn't let the o/L work very much

 

Our helper spring kit mounts the same as the firestone. there is enough room between the springs and bump stop mounts. As for the overloads one of the main purposes of the bags is to help get you off of your overload springs. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

 

6 years and running with Firestone bags and the factory overloads. My setup looks just like Roughstock's.

Haven't had any problems with travel, binding or anything.

Buddy of mine mounted the bags as Roughstock. He got tired of too much to keep it off the overloads or the on & off jounce with the correct air. He cut the overloads a couple inches past each bag mounting.

I don't have overloads, but bags mount in same location. My frame bracket is at the bottom of the "C"

 

Thanks for the replies. My truck has been in the shop all week so I haven't been able to take another look at the area. But the photo posted looks different then what I remember on mine.

My goal was not to totally eliminate the overloads, just help them out, and keep the truck level. I was going to add Torklift stable loads at the same time.

My overloads work really well with my slide in camper. Comfortable ride and very little sway. But I know when I tow my jeep, I'll need the airbags for the extra weight.

 

Ok, I have my truck back and took another look at it. I think airbags could work on top of overloads.

With my camper in the bed, I have about 6 inches from the top of the overload to the top of the frame. Without the camper, maybe 8 inches. How tall are the airbags, can someone measure theirs? Thanks for the help.
