Finally got a slide in camper
Finally got a slide in camper
I just bought a 1993 Oakland bigfoot 9.5' Camper. Its in need of some tlc. There is a little bit of water damage in the overhead which is minimal but the floor also is rotted near the back door. There are also some other small problems.
I got it for $2000 which seems good to me for what I have been looking at. It has full bathroom with shower. Im bringing it home tomorrow and will snap some pics and post em up here.
I plan on doing all the repairs myself and will post pics along the way. But its gonna be a slow go as I am busy with work and what not.

I know what you mean...I had been wanting a truck and camper for many years. Finally over the last 4 years, everything started coming together.
However, recently laid off, I don't have the funds to enjoy it. Hopefully, we'll be back on track in a month or 2.

Nice looking camper. I like the pics. Thanks for keeping us updated with pics as you do the work, I like seeing projects in process. I have thought about doing the same thing, but have not taken the time yet.
I will definatly post updates as I go. The front two jacks are basically brand new and I dont think the back ones are much older. It also came with two brand new propane bottles and regulator. I probably won't be able to get anything done untill this coming weekend at the earliest. Busy at work(now I just have to start making money) Its not the best time for me to be trying to start a company.
First thing I plan on doing is removing the dinette, so that I can start fixing the floor and the back wall.
Tony thats a nice looking set up you got, sorry to here about your lack of work hopefully it will pick up soon. I don't plan on using the camper this year unless maybe for a snowboarding trip in the winter, but that should give me lots of time to get it all fixed up.
Bruiser, Thats a cool truck you got there I love crew cabs, I wonder why Dodge quit making em in 85. Have you painted the cab ? or you still workin on it. Thats a pretty clean Crewcab.

Mopar,
Thanks for the compliment.
Things seem to be coming together, albeit slow.
When we were camper shopping, at the local dealer, the wife always wanted the biggest camper we could put on the truck. I wanted the smallest (read lightest) to keep fuel cost down. As it turns out, that was partially true; the biggest fuel consumer is wind resistance. oh, well.
We drove to San Diego to pick it up. Stayed one night in it, and the wife was hooked! She also drove it part way home. She refuses to drive the truck loaded or empty in town, but she will drive it on the road. And, she loves the truck and camper!
