I just reread that eBay ad . They claim "the original owner just replaced this truck after years of reliable`service " WHAT ???? It's a 2007 with a little over 20,000 miles ! Still a good buy but watch these guys .
The International cabs are wide enough and the bed is 26in. They can be logged legally as sleeper birth. There are a few "legal" 3500's pulling out of my yard, you remove the passenger seat and put your bed there, you can get the legal dimensions. You just have to add the restraints to be legal (thats also the only way to be legal in a 4500 Chevy and an f650. As far as how the ad is worded I bet thats a lazy salesman mistake, he used an old ad as template and screwed up. I had a guy that worked for me do the same thing.

Pretty much decided guys im going with an F650 in january with cat motor rated at 860 tq with allison 3000 6 speed auto, 4.88's, and bed on truck. Worried about my trailer not fitting but it is adjustable and if not maybe a welder could help me out in that area. Either way, im keeping both trucks and hiring someone for my dodge and Im getting into large boat hauling with the f650. Also deciding im going with 2007 model to stay away from that emmissions crap. lol you get an extra gas tank instead of that big muffler. also is alot cheaper. Still a 75-80k truck though.

ccoop769, just watch it. I have a friend (who owns a 1st Gen ) who says a Cat 300 and a Cummins 6.7 in another truck will be more reliable and feel like it has more power. When Ford puts a engine into their trucks, they change/add software to control the fuel map. When this guy asked someone about controllers to add more hp/tq, the company says it has a completely different software. Remember what happened to the 6.0L? The same motor but one that has IH software was more reliable. Think about it a little more.

Not really a bad truck, of course I would need to drive it before I bought it. I would much rather throw 11k on the line than jump into an 85k truck and find out it was a bad decision. Why not save some cash and buy a 10-15k used truck and see what happens, if all is well 3-6 months in then go drop the 80k and sell the used truck. Chances are you will get what you paid for it if you bought it right. For example I started with a 92 ran it for a few months and sold it for what I paid (put on 6 tires, and a few minor repairs) for it and put 50,000 miles on it. I then bought a 98.5 ran it for 120k and put 6 tires and a torque converter in it and sold it for $300 more than I bought it for. I also had a topkick with a cat ran it for a few months and made like $1300 on it. Maybe I am cheap or lucky but I waited about 3 years to buy new, and look back now and think maybe buying used like I did was a better idea.

Here is another one truck I found that would be a better choice than the Furd.

That freightliner is a good deal. 11k, have it detailed really well, you can turn up the 8.3 no problemo, its a p-pump! Maybe even stick a bed on it from a P/U.
you'd be so far ahead in cash! Youd have the money for maintanence/goodies. believe me you will wish you had an extra 10k in the bank incase you blow stuff up on the job and have to pay out the nose for a engine rebuild or a trans or something....

Those things are nice!

As for stepping up I dont think its that great of an idea to put around $60k out there when you dont REALLY know how business is going to be you stated yourself you have only been doing this for 6 months and have also stated that you were slow lately and trying to find out what else you can haul doesnt sound like the best idea to get yourself that much further in debt for a business thats pretty slow lately. Plus I know someone with a few of the F-650's with 3 car flatbeds on them (2 on deck 1 on stinger) and they dont seem like that great of trucks I will agree the F-650's with a bed on them look great but I dont think it would pull 6 cars very well at all and im not sure if it would even be legal weight wise?? Plus also you wont be able to have the bed on it with a 6 car hauler unless you wanted it to be on a HUGE angle and the ride would be way off and you would need one heck of a king pin to put it on that huge angle to clear a bed considering how 6 car trailers are made.

I have been doing this full time now for over a year I have been doing it part time for about 9-10 years and I have NEVER seen it this slow before last year at this time I was running all over the place even through the holidays.

How many times hauling 3 cars did your GCW go over 26,000 lbs . ?
As far as Medium Duty trucks being overpriced , a low mileage fully loaded used medium duty will sell for less than a new 1 ton . I know several hotshotters that moved up from 1 tons to medium duty and all say they wish they made the move sooner .
My last trip to the scale I weighed in at 28,480 lbs truck, trailer (with 2 cars and 1 truck), myself, and about 1/4 tank of fuel.

Thanks . That's what I figured . A few people posted on another forum wanting to haul cars with a 1 ton to avoid IFTA and a CDL . Not gonna happen .

Yeah I have heard and seen SO many people stating yeah you dont need your CDL for a 3 car and a 1 Ton at first I thought it may have been true cause I never really scaled myself out (years ago) then when I did with a not that heavy load (3 cars) and came out to like 27,500lbs I was trying to figure out how the heck you could haul 3 AND stay under 26k only thing I came up with was getting a lighter trailer (mine weighs 7700 lbs) and ONLY hauling smaller lighter cars so I think if you did that you MAY be OK but thats a lot of searching for a certain type of load so you dont go over wieghts!
