exhaust brake

I'm planning on buying a 24' or 28' enclosed hauler. My concern is whether or not I need a exhaust brake. I don't haul for a living. Purpose of this hauler is to do maybe 4 trips, thats it. It is going to be 10K GVWR. So, question is do I need one and if I do which one should I get because I eventually want to upgrade my stock turbo also my injectors. I don't want to go to extreme with turbos, just the next step up.

Thanks for any input.

My opinion - - save your money. You don't need an exhaust brake unless you are towing heavy a lot and if you are going to be in mountains. Good trailer brakes, a good controller (long live JORDAN) and good brakes on the truck and you will be fine. Just use your head and your gears on grades.

I agree with Bob. If only 4 trips it's probably not worth it. Just drive nice, make sure you have good brakes, use your gears and you will be just fine.
Just think what they did before exhaust brakes............
