Driveshaft wall thickness?
I have installed a NV4500 and GV under/overdrive on a 92 W350 and am about to get the driveshaft made by a shop. Was just wondering if it makes any sense in having the wall beefed up some? I tow lumber on gooseneck 10-ton trailer. What are your thoughts?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hmmmm. I'm not an expert in drivetrains but i would assume a thicker wall would make for more rotating mass and would be harder to balance. Is there a chance of using stronger material?

I've seen quite a few driveshafts twisted like a pretzel, but all were caused by snatching, dumping clutch or speed shifting. All of these put a tremendous sudden amount of pressure which will twist most any shaft. As long as you shift like you should and don't dump the clutch like you are at the drag strip while towing a heavy load you should be fine with the stock shaft.
