I pull about the same setup as you have for several years now, Mostly a boat but a few times a year I will take our touring bike and go somewhere to ride a area for a couple of weeks. Our fifth is 29ft long and the boat is 16ft,the motorcycle trailer is 10ft. Goodluck,,Rick

How heavy is that rear trailer? How much pin weight does that combo bring it down to?

Looks great y22man, How much does your tagalong weigh?

My buddy has a 18 trailer that would like to pull behind his. But I think that it might be to heavy.

Do you know what the weight limit is on the hitch behind your 5ther?

Ya Kandgo,

I'm going to see about a boat this year. We are expecting a baby, and her mother is going with us this year. So the bike will have to stay behind this year.

Ever have any problems with the cops? I didn't have any problems, but some states are diffrent from others.

No problems what so ever, and I have been in most of the states, there is something that to the fact if it is legal in your home state that other states will reciprocate your home state law. Now granted I pull a fifth and then a trailer, I do know that ball to ball is illegal and most states will nail you on that one. Goodluck,,,Rick

Well this ain't nothin new I have been pullin double trailers for decades and they ain't light 165,000lbs. This is in the big leagues. And I hate them. Nothin but hook unhook. But far as an RVer they look like fun and not for the normal driver, one has to have a bit of sense to there minds to do this kind of pull. The most fun with this combination is when you spin out on a tough hill and start going backwards. By the time it all stops, accordian is probably the best discripsion of the mess.

We've only been out once, when we went to Yellowstone, without double pulling. 68' long, 19k scaled. 2 feet under the Colorado limit. Legal or 5' over in Wyoming depending on what website you check or trooper you ask.

My buddy pulls his 22' boat behind a 27' FW with his 94 CTD. He's at 69' and change. Scary before he got a pac-brake. Now he can stop but the surge brakes on the boat will start smoking on a steep downgrade. The other buddy pulls a Geo Tracker and jetski's behind his Dieselpusher MH and is 2-3" under the limit depending on how warm it is.

I disagree with the poster that states reciprocate. They most certainly do not. California is one of the worst. CDL required. States that do not allow doubles will pop you in a heartbeat.

This is a highly debated subject on the RV forums.

Those states that do allow doubles are all FW first, most are watercraft only on the second, and all are 65, 70, or 75 feet total length. Every state also has a legal tow speed limit on RV/trailers/doubles. Check the states you are going to travel in.

It would be a great benifit to all to check on the regs, I have been all over even California several several times and the only states I have not been is up above West Virgina and Oregon and Washington, pulling either a boat or our motorcycle on its trailer and have never been stopped, I am licensed to pull commercial triples but have yet to be questioned, I think that most get into trouble when they go long, as our trailer is 29ft long and the boat 16ft and the motorcycle trailer is 10ft, and most of the years past our rv was a 26ft wilderness, also I think it helps not to go flying down the road like a mad man. But again I agree that in the best interest to all is to check the states you are going in to be safe. Goodluck,,Rick

I'd love to do it...5th wheel camper, jeep on the trailer behind it...but PA code says "No Go", it's illegal to tow doubles without a CDL and a truck bigger than 1 ton

lots of double/tripple tows here in OK with lots of lakes. We double towed 8 years back in the late '80s with a 26' 5er and 18' 3500 lb [boat/trailer] bass boat. Bike week at Daytona will have double/tripple tows of all descriptions. Some are scary looking and some are well thought out. My neighbor hotshots/transports with double tow horse/stock/utility/implement/cargo/etc all over delivering for dealers.

Well, he is about 10 inches to long for Utah DOT laws. He tows at 60 MPH mostly. This is because when he first had this set up he was really influenced by passing traffic that pushes a lot of air.

He has since moved the weight around in the second trailer. Moved the ATVs to the rear and it is far more stable. He now tows at 65 but if he sees a Semi or anther large vehicle coming to pass he bumps it back down to 60.

Weighs 21,000. Tounge wight is 150lbs now. Before the ATV move it was 190lbs.

Needless to say he has fiddled around to get it where he likes it.
